BOOKKEEPING: COMPUTER/INTERNET/E-MAIL
USE:
SAVE MONEY: It's less expensive for you or an employee to do the record keeping than it is to pay an Accountant or Bookkeeping Service on an ongoing basis. An initial investment in training up front saves money in the long run.
IT'S EASY: Once the mystery is removed, bookkeeping is much simpler than most people imagine. With the advent of low-end accounting software, such as Quickbooks & Peachtree, it's never been cheaper or easier to start doing it yourself.
BE BETTER INFORMED: By maintaining your own records, you have the flexibility to view financial data at any time, not just quarterly or annually when the Accountant produces Financial Statements for you. You can view profitability by product and/or service and use this information to better manage your business. |

STEP 1: We start with your last tax return or a year-end Trial Balance and set up your business in an accounting software package. You'll see how to create a new company and how set up options can effect every aspect of the computerized bookkeeping system.
STEP 2: Next, we enter all transactions past and present for the current fiscal year, along with any desired historical data. Entering this data can serve as training, otherwise we use actual company-specific transactions to learn and practice every skill you'll need to continue independently.
STEP 3: Once the basics are mastered, you can pick up more advanced bookkeeping skills on an as-needed basis. Inventory Tracking, Journal Entries, Accruals, and Departmentalized Profit and Loss Statements are just a few of the advanced bookkeeping skills you can learn. |

EXPERIENCE: I have over 15 years of hands-on bookkeeping experience, and have acted as Controller for several companies. I can deal with all aspects of bookkeeping up to and including financial statements. Based on my experience with such a variety of industries, I'm probably already familiar with your industry.
PATIENCE: I've spent more than 8 years as a consultant and during that time have trained score of people. I understand the variables involved in personal learning curves and I'm happy to help my clients write out clear and detailed instructions for later reference.
SUPPORT: I'm settled locally and will be available to continue assisting you on an as-needed basis if new issues pop up along the way. |

CUSTOM TRAINING: Public classes can often provide a good foundation, but they tend to be generic and don't cater to the individual's personal learning curve nor to the specifics of the company's industry. I teach what you want to learn, not skills you have no interest in. I teach you at your pace, when it's convenient for you, at your home or office.
SPECIALIZATION: I don't troubleshoot Windows problems, nor do I repair hardware mishaps. I train people in computer and software use. In conjunction with my business background, focusing on one aspect of computers is what enables me to offer superior training catered toward you and/or your business.
ECONOMICS: It's cheaper to use my skills once, twice, or intermittently than it is to keep an MIS employee on staff. Consultants' rates vary, but it's less expensive to have it done correctly the first time than it is to pay less per hour and need more hours of training.
PRIVACY: Some people learn best in an one-to-one or one-to-few scenario. Whether you need to learn a business software package to advance your career or you're too shy to ask questions in a group class, private training may be the answer. I provide confidential training at your home/office or at my office. I stress that the only stupid question is the one not asked.
AGE DOESN'T MATTER: You're never too old to learn to use a computer. I currently have a client in her early 90's who creates envelopes and acknowledgement cards for a local non-profit organization. She works at home and uses Microsoft Word, a fairly complex word processing program. We created special Word shortcut buttons and customized her Windows desktop to help compensate for problems she has with her vision. I work with young and old alike... and even give seniors a little discount. |
